This comprehensive 40-hour curriculum will guide participants through the information and skills necessary to become Professional Court Interpreters.
BLBC is completely Language Neutral, with a focus on interpreting skills and court procedures. LOTS (Languages Other Than Spanish) Interpreters are encouraged to take advantage of this unique training opportunity!
The course will familiarize interpreters with court procedures, ethics and the role of the interpreter within the court system. It will cover the three modes of interpretation tested by the NCSC Certification Exam: sight, consecutive and simultaneous. By learning and applying methods of self-assessment to interactive interpreting exercises, students will improve the accuracy and flow of their renditions. Participants will also learn note-taking skills, memory techniques, courtroom etiquette and many other skills crucial to being a successful interpreter.
